Legends of the West Country The Wurzels will be playing an intimate show in the unusual setting of The Museum of Somerset Courtyard in Taunton on Saturday 23rd June 2012. With doors opening at 6:30pm, there will be a BBQ with locally produced burgers, sausages and other local specialities, also Cotleigh Brewery will be serving locally produced Beers and Ciders throughout the night. Tickets are available from the Museum, the Tourist Information Centre, by phone 01823 255088 & online via www.midnightmango.co.uk.

Why not make a day of it? The Museum of Somerset, which tells the county’s story from prehistoric times to the present day, will be open through out the day until 5pm and entry is free.

CANdYRAT Tour, Bristol Folk Fest & London International Ska Fest

CANdYRAT Records roster includes some of the best young Acoustic Guitar Phenoms the world has to offer. With over 190,000,000 YouTube views and a loyal worldwide following, CANdYRAT is re-defining the genre of Acoustic Guitar Music. Three of the best, CANdYRAT guitarists, Antoine Dufour, Ewan Dobson and Jimmy Wahlsteen have teamed up with Polish sensation Adam Palma to complete the first UK CANdYRAT Tour.

The Bristol Folk Festival will take place over three days at the city’s Colston Hall, and O2 Academy during the May Day Bank Holiday weekend running from Saturday 5th May to Monday 7th May 2012. Saturday headliners are Show of Hands with Miranda Sykes, Sunday headliner is Cara Dillon, and Monday headliner Afro Celt Sound System. Newton Faulkner plays the city’s O2 Academy on Saturday. Also confirmed are Karine Polwart, Rua Macmillan, 3 Daft Monkeys, Lady Maisery, Plus many many more. Expect around 40 acts, plus Morris dancers, mummers and maypoles, ceilidhs, workshops, and singalong sessions.

The second London International Ska Festival is set to take place across 3 venues (one wristband gets you into all of them) -The Brixton Academy, The Sheperds Bush Empire and The Islington Academy, in London on Thursday 3rd through to Sunday 6th May 2012. The festival is set to highlight all that’s good about the world of ska, from it’s roots in American Rhythm & blues, to the Jamaican originators, through the 2 Tone era and right up-to-date with 21st century ska sounds. 2012′s line up promises 40 acts including Jamaican legends, a 2 Tone Revue, world exclusives, plus acts from 15 countries. Acts announced include Freddie Notes, Dandy Livingstone, The Pioneers, Dawn Penn (Stc), The Dualers, Neville Staple & Neol Davies Aka The Selecter (double header), Hotknives (original line-up), Fishbone, Buster Shuffle, The Skints, Rebelation, The Moon Invaders, Los Granadians, The Delegators, Capone & The Bullets, and The Kinky Coo Coo’s.

Two of the best, and most influential, folk performers of the last 50 years come together.

Back in the 60s guitarist John Renbourn’s acoustic virtuosity shone out in the mighty Pentangle, while Robin Williamson’s ethereal poetry and multi-instrumental energy were at the core of The Incredible String Band. Still deeply immersed in the folk and blues tradition, this duo is a unique crystallisation of all they’ve learnt over the years.

Three of the world’s most accomplished acoustic guitarists will unite for a major 20-date UK tour in September & October 2012. Guitar Masters Tour is a unique experience for music fans to enjoy marquee virtuosity in a living room-concert setting and features internationally renowned musicians Andy McKee, Preston Reed and Jon Gomm. The three will share an all-acoustic bill, jam, play their calling-card tunes and reveal their formative influences and. signature guitar techniques.

Dodgy will be playing a double set, as a full band, when they come to The Fleece, Bristol on Thursday 1st December. The first half will be their new album in its entirety followed by a set of their greatest hits! This is a show that you shouldn’t miss out on!

Tommy Emmanuel the world-renowned Australian fingerstyle acoustic guitarist comes to The Hove Centre, Brighton & Hove on Tuesday 6th December, St. Davids’ Hall, Cardiff on Tuesday 13th December and The Union Chapel, London on Thursday 15th December. Support for all shows comes from Gareth Pearson.
