Agent Story:
Joe

Joe came to Midnight Mango after years of experience in performance.

What brought you to Midnight Mango?

I have been obsessed with the music industry for some time, having been in bands for years and organising the live side as well as day to day of the projects. As my obsession grew I know I had to do something about it and had been following the work of Midnight Mango for some time and I was well aware of the work the agency did. Despite having no formal experience working in music, I decided to try my luck and apply to MM. Fortunately, they could see my passion and decided to take a chance on me and help refine that passion into a career.

What kind of bands do you like to work with?

It is such a cliché but I really do have an eclectic taste and will happily work with acts across the genre spectrum if I love the music and the project. That said, I must admit that my taste is really centred around Indie, Rock, Pop and Post-Punk. I am a real sucker for an indie-rock act.

What advice would you give someone considering joining the Midnight Mango team?

It is no small commitment joining the MM team but I am so glad I took the chance and applied. My main piece of advice would be that if you feel you have the passion for it, don’t let anything stop you giving it a go. I did not have experience nor a roster before joining and of course I was very worried about this. The agency has a fantastic scheme of training up agent and have helped me put together a roster of acts I love working with. You don’t know until you try, and there is never any harm in reaching out and having a conversation.

Who would you love to have on your roster?

Hmm nothing too ambitious, but I’d love to work with Coldplay. They are my favourite band ever and I am not ashamed to admit it. All 4 of them seem like lovely guys and I imagine are nice to work with. If not Coldplay then I would try and get The Magic Gang out of retirement.

First festival you went to?

Reading Festival 2013

Best festival you’ve been to?

Either Reading 2014, or Bestival 2015, seeing The Cure at the latter may just sway   that.

First gig you went to?

Oof my memory is terrible, but the first gig I can remember I consciously bought tickets for would be Dog Is Dead in 2012 I think, Sticky Mikes Frog Bar in Brighton I think it was.

Best gig you’ve been to (so far)

Tough one, maybe Stornoway at the De La War Bexhill. I shed many tears at The Magic Gang’s final show and so that could also be top spot.
