London-based Belle Chen is a composer and pianist whose unique approach in blurring the lines between classical and electronic music has been recognised by industry heavyweights.

Described as an artist that is original and provocative… feels like the sense of discovery” (Brian Eno), Chens 2024 album Ravel In The Forest’ (Platoon) – an evocative celebration of the forests’ colourful ecosystems and the humankinds distinctive capacity to imagine – made its debut at #7 on UK Specialist Classical chart and #15 on the ARIA Classical chart.

What sets Chens music apart is a quirky yet tender approach to musical storytelling. With influences of Ryuichi Sakamoto and Joe Hisaishis melodic sweetness shining through, Chen also blends sonically bold synth explorations and free flowing improvisations that could feel equally at home on jazz or experimental stages.

Chens transient childhood in Taiwan and Australia has shaped her long-term relationship with music. A mesh of eastern and western cultures have set Chen up on a continual search for her own identity and belonging, a journey she lives openly through her music.

Chens original music also reaches international audiences through sync and collaborative projects, with commission and placements for London and Shanghai Fashion Weeks, as well as in choreography for The Cincinnati Ballet and The Joffrey Ballet

Hovering between the piano and an array of keyboards, Chen has performed on a diverse range of stages: from EartH Theatre for EFG London Jazz Festival, Southbank Centre, Liverpool Philharmonic, Bristol Beacon, Polygon LIVE, Leuven Jazz, Shambala Festival, OzAsia Festival, Latitude Festival, Cafe OTO, to Piano City Milano.

Following standing ovations at her debut at the EFG London Jazz Festival and on her 2026 solo tour across the UK and Europe, Chen continues her international touring in China and Australia. Her releases have earned Australian Music Prize nominations and amassed more than 50 million streams worldwide. Her next major release with Platoon is scheduled for 2027.
