CÀRNAN is a rising Scottish indie folk trio with a funkier take on trad. The band blends lively accordion (Louden MacKay) and punchy whistle (Kenneth MacFarlane) with thunderous guitar and vocals (Arthur Brook Young) into a powerful, driven sound.

Drawing on a firm connection to their roots in the Scottish Highlands in tandem with fresher inspirations from the likes of Silly Wizard, Sharon Shannon and John Martyn, CÀRNAN brings a raw uniqueness to each performance; most recently in May 2025 a debut at SkyeLive festival and a support gig with the legendary East Pointers in The Tunnels.

Named after the Gàidhlig word for ancient stone cairns used to guide travellers through the wild Hebridean landscapes, their music aims to ground, move, and connect.
