Dan Croll

With over 100 million streams to date, British singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist (piano, trumpet, guitar, bass, drums, and organ among them) Dan Croll gained early recognition. Being named Songwriter of the Year by the Musicians’ Benevolent Fund in 2011 while attending the Paul McCartney-founded Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, he has since built a reputation for his nuanced songwriting and distinctive sound. This has earned him consistent support from BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6 Music as well as support from Line of Best Fit, Clash, DIY and more.

Speaking of ‘Try Try Try’, Dan says, “Whenever I hit a wall with songwriting, the only thing that really works is stripping everything back. ‘Try try try’ came from one of those moments. I had been struggling to write, so I decided to keep it as simple as possible and focus on the core of what we all need from a relationship.”

Upcoming album, Winning Streak is a reflective and quietly defiant body of work shaped by transition, distance, and re-evaluation. Written after leaving Los Angeles and returning to the UK, the album emerges from a period of taking stock of past decisions, shifting definitions of success, and the lingering pull of roads not taken.

At its core, Winning Streak is not about victory in any conventional sense. Instead, it explores the persistence required to keep going when outcomes fall short of expectations. The title is intentionally ironic: less a celebration of uninterrupted success, and more a nod to the resilience found in continuing despite setbacks.

But throughout the upcoming album, life is portrayed as fast-moving and unpredictable, with shifting goalposts and frequent setbacks. Yet within that instability, it finds meaning in smaller, quieter victories, the kind that only reveal themselves after things have fallen apart and been rebuilt.

The range of bands that have asked Croll to support live – from Imagine Dragons, Bastille and Bombay Bicycle Club to Haim, London Grammar and Chvrches – attests to the ambitious scope of his songs. The same can be said for the breadth of brands that synched every song on his debut album among them Grand Theft Auto, FIFA, Citroen, Clairol, Burberry, Paul Smith and Apple’s iPhone 6, which was launched across the world with his hit ‘From Nowhere’.

Rather than offering resolution, Winning Streak sits in the space between trying, failing, and trying again, suggesting that endurance, perspective, and the act of continuing might be the closest thing to winning there is.
