Rei’s (Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Pākeha) music seamlessly bridges urban and electronic, with elements of hip hop, pop and dance flavors. With over 12 million Spotify Streams, 7 Waiata Māori Awards and 5 NZ Music Awards nominations, Rei is carving out his space in the world. Members of the live act also regularly speak on panels and run workshops on indigeneity, Māori language and kapa haka at numerous events around the world, including SXSW Sydney, Going Global NZ, WOMAD, WOMEX and Toitū Language Festival. Rei’s most loved tune ‘Good Mood’ hit #1 on the US Viral 50 Chart on Spotify and has racked up over 6 million streams, heavily supported by Mai FM. The drum n bass remix was the first ever te reo DnB tune to achieve major playlisting on George FM. His 2024 te reo Māori release ‘Nuku te Āio’ also recently hit #1 on the NZ Hot Charts. This year also saw Rei release internationally, dropping Still Here, a first nations collaboration with Canadian rapper Drezus and Australian rapper DRMNGNW.
