The Poozies are a Scottish (originally) all-female trad band formed in 1990. They were at the forefront of a wave that revolutionised traditional Scots and Gaelic music in the 1990s. Throughout the years they have toured worldwide, attracting recognition and appreciation for their eclectic choice of material, unusual and exciting arrangements, and notable vocal harmonies.

The Poozies have been mistresses of cosmic shape-shifting for a miraculous 35 years….

Pioneers from the beginning, with a healthy dose of sass and irreverence, they paved the way for sparkly women folkies in a beardy man’s world.

The band continue to be anchored by the glorious bass of founding member Mary Macmaster’s electro-harp, while the irrepressible riotousness of Eilidh Shaw & Sarah McFadyen’s twin fiddles and the shimmering joyfulness of Mike Bryan’s guitars burst off to happily explore other musical dimensions.

The band are ever-evolving, and 2026 will see them further embrace their unique brand of Trad-Punk with defiantly idiosyncratic new music featuring top notch guest drummers Donald Hay and / or Kenny Knowles.

The blissful result is an unrivalled mix of songs that make you sing and tunes that make you dance.

Energy, Seduction, Rascality and Invention.

…Alive with dynamic gear changes, tempos, moods and winsome catchiness, often hypnotic in its lure.
