The Style Councillors

The Style Councillors are the ultimate tribute to The Style Council.

With both Swirling Hammond Organ and a classic horn section, The Style Councillors are as close as it gets to actually being there.

They will take you right back to the beginning for a trip through one of Paul Weller’s arguably best periods as a songwriter.

After the dissolution of The Jam in 1982, Paul Weller joined forces with Mick Talbot, formerly of The Merton Parkas, Dexys Midnight Runners and The Bureau, to form The Style Council.

The band released a string of successful singles between 1983-1989 such as Speak Like a Child, Money-Go-Round, Long Hot Summer, My Ever Changing Moods, You’re The Best Thing, Shout To The Top, Walls Come Tumbling Down, A Solid Bond In Your Heart, Come To Milton Keynes, The Lodgers, Why I Went Missing, and more.

Formed in Brentwood, Essex in late 2013 by long time Paul Weller fans Darren and Steve after a random social media post asked ‘why are there no Style Council tribute acts around?’

Once the set was finalised the band line-up was completed by the addition of ex Bad Manners brass section Trevor, Tony & Dave.

In a relatively short space of time a sizeable and loyal following formed with the band playing to full houses up and down the
country – notably including London’s 100 club and The Jazz Café.

The word spread to the extent that notable faces seen at recent shows have included Nicky Weller, Steve Parish, Gary Crowley, ex Style Council members Steve Sidelnyk, Anthony Harty & Tracie Young, Iain Munn – Author of TSC’s Biography ‘Mr Cools Dream’ & Chris Watson of the Moons, all of whom are massive Style Council fans.
