“When Before I Knew What Had Begun I Had Already Lost was named Folk Album of the Month in The Guardian, it felt like a quiet shift. I’d been doing this for years – writing and arranging songs, playing folk clubs, putting albums out – and suddenly there was a sense that people beyond the small rooms were taking notice. It didn’t change what I was doing or how I went about it, but it gave things a bit of momentum. It made it easier to keep going, knowing that the songs were starting to find their way to the right ears.”
