The Interview

What festival are you most looking forward to playing this summer – and why?
I am most looking forward to performing at The Trucker and Country Festival Interlaken because that crowd is just so appreciative of live music and the sound and lighting are amazing.
Tell us about one/some of the most career defining shows you’ve played so far.
I would also always say The Trucker and Country Festival in Interlaken!
2 years ago, I performed as the opener there. In 30 years, an opener never filled the tent and we were forewarned to not feel disappointed with a sparse crowd. When I walked out on stage, the entire tent was packed. It was such an incredible moment in my career that really made me think about the journey. I reflected on singing some of those same songs to just a handful of people inlocal bars years ago when my career started, but now there were thousands singing the words with me. By the time we left Switzerland, every release I had put out within the last few years had charted in the country.
How did you come into this career?
Ever since I first started talking as a baby, I was also singing.
Both of my parents are musical so music was always a big part of my household and they actually perform in my band. My mom is my background singer, and my dad is my bass player. I knew very early on in my life that I wanted to pursue this career and they supported me all the way, which I am so grateful for.
When I was 13, I started my first band, and the rest is history. My career truly started when I self-produced and funded a concert television special in 2014 which went nationwide on PBS television here in the states.
Any pre-show rituals?
Yes! I go over all my lyrics and use a saline nebulizer for my voice. My biggest fear is forgetting the words!

What was the first show you remember going to?
My first concert was Richard Marx – I am a HUGE fan, and I was lucky enough to get to open for him in 2020! That was a definite “pinch me” moment.
What was the first show you remember playing?
My first performance that I remember was really life-changing for me. I was cast as Dorothy in my school play of The Wizard of Oz when I was in the 2ndgrade and it was the moment I knew I wanted to be a performer forever. It was a really special day in my life.
One thing you wish you knew before your first gig?
I wish I knew that no one knows if you mess up but you. 😊
Tell us about someone in your team you couldn’t do without.
My husband! My husband is my lead guitarist, my most trusted confidant, and best friend. We’ve been together 15 years and married for 9. I don’t know what I’d do without him.
How do you find working with Midnight Mango?
Midnight Mango is so communicative, honest, and works really hard. I’m really proud to be a part of the team.
Tell us about something you’d like to promote.
I have a brand new single which came out May 30th called “Love You Again” as well as an international tour and even more new music after that. You can keep up with me on my website JessicaLynnMusic.org or on socials at @JessicaLynnMusic.
