Emerging from the punk movement, Les Négresses Vertes have become one of the most iconic representatives of French music abroad.
Formed in Paris in 1987, this independent acoustic rock band owes as much to realistic songwriting as it does to Mediterranean music, crossing borders with their first album
‘Mlah’ in 1988, entered the UK charts with its remixes in 1989, and followed up with three albums: ‘Famille Nombreuse’ in 1991, “Zigzague” in 1995, and ‘Trabendo’ in 1999. The band toured internationally until 2001. The reformation of Les Négresses Vertes in 2018 was followed by a 350-date tour lasting until December 2024.
