People’s first impressions of Priorland is their sheer musicality, not surprising as these four bandmates met while studying music in Dundalk, Ireland. All members contribute to writing duties and their songs are ripe with lyrical meaning, instrumental proficiency and melodic hooks that strike home.

In early 2020, Priorland recorded their debut EP at Orphan Recording Ireland, produced by Gavin Glass (Paul Brady, Lisa Hannigan, David Keenan, Brave Giant, Hot Sprockets). Releasing the lead single ‘Moving To The Beat’ in April 2020. The track received nationwide airplay and was picked up by several Spotify playlists including ‘Made In Ireland’ and ‘New Music Mondays’. Their ‘EP One’ is scheduled for release in Autumn 2020. The band’s 2018 debut single ‘Ruins of a Gypsy’, has been described as “rather splendid indeed” and “somewhat reminiscent of Talking Heads or Nathaniel Rateliff”.

The band’s eclectic musical style is attributed to their diverse influences from Indie, Rock, Pop, R&B, Soul and Reggae. Tommy Hughes grew up with a traditional Irish music background, his strong soulful vocal style has helped define Priorland’s sound. Calvin McManus is a multi-instrumentalist, but a guitarist at heart. Guitar Player, Davie Boyle is the driving force of the band’s enthusiasm and Conor Kavanagh has developed an evergreen and very personal drumming style.

Priorland have performed at Liverpool Tall Ships Festival, Sligo Live Festival, Hilden Brewery Festival, Ted Fest and Drogheda Arts Festival.

“We picked Priorland as a Sligo Live ‘Arrivals’ act in 2018 and they certainly didn’t disappoint, packing out their venue and earning a fantastic audience reaction. We were so impressed, we invited them back in 2019 to open for Wild Youth on one of our main stages.” – Rory O’Connor (Sligo Live Director)

“With smooth velvety vocals teamed with lush backing harmonies and glossy production, Priorland have created one infectious bop which showcases their proficient, refined and classy musicianship” – Indie Buddie

Amazing roster I've known Midnight Mango since the days when John Smith was an upcoming artist and their roster is now even more amazing and their professionalism is unmatched. Saw some amazing acts at Beautiful Days and Funke and the Two Tone Baby rocked the Bimble Inn with a bouncing crowd.
