Stevens & Pound
BBC Radio 3’s award-winning Delia Stevens and three time BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician of the Year nominee, Will Pound, deliver an unprecedented collaboration, following the creative evolution of the classical composers inspired by folk.
Driven by a maverick curiosity, having stumbled upon a completely new world of sound, they combine the traditional instruments of Pound’s melodeon and harmonica with the dizzying array of Stevens’ percussion. Imaginations run riot whilst paying homage to their respective musical roots, creating an extraordinary sonic arsenal.
“Percussion from Delia Stevens, whose thoughtful, insistent playing is crucial” – The Guardian
“One of the world’s top harmonica players” – Daily Telegraph
2024 has already become a busy year for Stevens & Pound. After a debut UK Spring tour, the duo will be world premiering their brand new programme, The Silent Planet, with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Northern College of Music conducted by Clark Rundell and in unique collaboration with the youth-led global climate activism organisation Force of Nature. The July premières in Manchester and Liverpool commemorate Gustav Holst’s 150th anniversary and his iconic Planets Suite. Stevens & Pound’s own Silent Planet Suite reinterprets Holst’s eponymous work for a new era featuring Earth as an additional movement. Driven by our changing climate, Stevens and Pound imagine each movement through 21st century experiences and understanding the effects of the planet during these uncertain times.
