Hillary Klug

Hillary Klug is an exceptional buck dancer and violinist. When she mixes the two together the results are extraordinary. Simultaneously using her feet for a beat and her violin for the melody, she creates extremely entertaining music.

Born and raised in Fayetteville, Tennessee, before moving to Nashville to busk and pursue her music career, Hillary started dancing at the age of 8 when she joined a clogging class, but it wasn’t until she was 13 that she first picked up a fiddle. After taking over 3 months to learn Twinkle Twinkle Little Star at group violin lessons, she explored other routes to continue learning her instrument and met a fiddle teacher at a local contra dance who helped shape her musical style and ambitions.

Hillary’s teacher introduced her to the old-time music scene in her area and she says, “Nobody in my family plays music or dances, and I had no idea that the world of old-time music and dance existed, but the more I learned, the more I was drawn to it.” Hillary began playing weekly square dances and went on to become a National Buck Dancing Champion (“Buck Dancing” is also known as Clogging, a type of folk dance practiced in the United States). She was also Kentucky State Dance Champion.

After adding singing and banjo to her musical CV, Hillary is now touring and showcasing her incredible talents to the world via live shows, and building a formidable online presence. She opened her social media channels in 2018 and has since amassed over 450 million views on her videos from fans all over the world!

2022 will go down as a tipping point, a changing of the guard, including the emergence of a new and exuberant talent, Hillary Klug – Amos Perrine, No Depression
