The Smyths

For more than twenty years, The Smyths have brought the music of The Smiths back to life in the live arena across more than 900 shows in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand as well as countless festivals including Glastonbury, The Isle of Wight and Bestival.

Acclaimed by Johnny Marr, Mike Joyce and the late Andy Rourke and also Stephen Street (The Smiths Producer – who has played live with the band on occasion), The Smyths pay homage to the band who will never re-form, imagining what The Smiths would sound like today as a stadium indie rock band after more than 40 years of playing the songs to several generations of fans; from the teens of then who are Grandparents now, to their children and onto to the teens of today.

The music of The Smiths remains as fresh and important as it did at the time of its inception. The Smyths are a celebration of the band and the music and focus on the experiential, the fevered rush of a brilliant band playing the songs of a generation that reverberates and resonates today.

The Smyths continue to play UK headline shows at iconic venues such as Shepherds Bush Empire, Brixton Academy, Cardiff Tramshed, The Electric Ballroom Camden, Newcastle City Hall, and The Ritz in Manchester and have tours booked across the world in 2024 and 2025.

For anyone mourning the live absence of the original band, The Smyths are the closest you’ll ever get to being there.

“Calling them a tribute act is an insult. I closed my eyes, and I thought it was 1985” – Jeremy Vine

“I’m so busy at the festival, normally that I don’t see many bands, but as soon as I heard The Smyths echo across the field, I knew that I had to go and watch. They were completely transfixing and a marvellous fitting tribute” – Rob Da Bank, Camp Bestival

“Having had the very good fortune to have worked up close and personal with THE SMITHS, I can vouch that THE SMYTHS are the most excellent “tribute” to the Smiths’ music and legacy. The Smyths’ musicianship is undoubtedly of a very high standard enabling them to play every song from The Smiths and Morrissey’s catalogue with incredible precision and feel. Go and see them live, you won’t be disappointed” – Stephen Street, Producer of The Smiths & Blur
