William Crighton
“Crighton looks like a bushranger and sings like a sage” – Henry Wagons, Double J.
William Crighton, who sprung from the Aussie bush, works traditional roots music into unexpected experimentation. His story telling is as unique and as it is familiar and covers vast distances from euphoric conversations with ants to the revenge murder of a paedophile priest.
Shades of punk, folk-rock and psychedelia blend and Crighton is as much at home opening a stadium for rock powerhouse Midnight Oil as he is solo and acoustic in an old mountain theatre.
A child in awe of nature and now a passionate environmentalist, Crighton has been heavily involved in the fight against fracking, deforestation and coal expansion in his home country.
William Crighton’s latest offering, Water and Dust is his third and most acclaimed album to date. Featured on the album is Julieanne Crighton, his wife and long-time collaborator as well as Didgeridoo master and acclaimed composer, William Barton.
