Touted as ‘One To Watch in ’23’ by Rolling Stone Magazine, Toby has been making an impressive mark on the live scene, selling out 4 headline shows in London this past year at Omeara, the O2 Islington and The Social. This spring he played his first headline UK tour which was a resounding success with gigs all across the country, including his biggest home-town show to date at Oxford O2 Academy.
Toby first launched himself into the public eye in 2012, beginning his career as an actor which has seen him play roles such as Trystane Martell in Game Of Thrones and portraying Andrea Bocelli in the biopic The Music Of Silence.
Earlier this year Toby released the video for the single ‘Midnight’, featuring guest vocals and appearance from his sister Florence Pugh. The track has achieved over five million streams on Spotify alone, the song is a homage to their childhoods spent singing and playing together.
Toby has been working with Matthew Benbrook for all releases since 2019, a producer affiliated to artists such as Dido, Paolo Nutini and Ed Drewitt.
Sebastian’s songs prove that talent runs through the veins of this family. Recent single ‘Rock Rolling’ is a stomping slice of Vampire Weekend-esque indie pop, while ‘Real Kicks’ shows off a laid-back and retro side to his sound. Crucially, though, they’re both earworms – Nick Reilly, Rolling Stone UK
His upbeat acoustic track, ‘Rock Rolling’ is full of bouncy and breezy indie, with nods to nostalgic Americana. The sounds are reminiscent as much from Vampire Weekend as they are Bob Dylan – Music News
Ending his set with a bang, these songs perfectly matched the energy he’d been giving the crowd all night, and which he fully deserved for the crowd to give back to him. Although Toby’s upcoming album currently has no release date, the anticipation is already tangible; I am certain it will be a brilliant and emotional project, if his concert this week was anything to go by – The Strand – Omeara Review by Marlene Barthel
